Jackie Shaw, President
Jackie has been the Honorary President of Maroondah Addictions Recovery Project for almost two years.
She is a registered Division 1 Nurse and has trained at the Royal London Hospital in the UK and RMIT in Melbourne. She has a background of nursing in acute care and Neurosurgery, which gave her an excellent grounding for a transition into working in the field of Addictions.
In the mid 1980's, Jackie changed career pathways and commenced facilitating Drink/Drive programs at St.Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne, followed by working in Depaul House, the Residential Withdrawal Service.
She left Depaul House to pilot a Home Based withdrawal program at Anglicare, Boxhill, then managed the Salvation Army Detox at St. Kilda, and did community AOD Counselling. Jackie returned to Depaul House in the early 90's, where she became the Manager and continued until 2008, when she retired from full time work. She has been very happy to maintain her links with Addiction Treatment and MARP, and hopes to continue for a while yet. She also hopes to meet some of the people involved with MARP from time to time as consumers, staff and friends of MARP.
