The Maroondah Addictions Recovery Project (MARP) is a highly successful 'Not for Profit', community based organisation. MARP was established in 1977 by a group of concerned professionals and AA members who recognised a need for long- and medium-term residential rehabilitation programs for individuals recovering from abuse of mood altering substances (in the early days this was predominantly alcohol). Part of the 12 Step philosophy is the belief that recovering substance abusers are able to contribute to the support and recovery of others suffering from the same abuse issues.

MARP provides a secure foundation in a supportive environment, access to information and education about substance abuse, time to develop life skills and opportunities to make healthy choices which has proven highly successful to date.

The MARP Centre is co-located with the Ranges Community Health Service at 17 Clarke Street, Lilydale Victoria. The Centre is often a first contact point for prospective residents as well as being a drop in centre for those who have completed the programs, an administration centre and is also used for day programs and outpatient groups.

MARP provides two levels of residential programs and a number of outpatient support groups...

Maroondah Addictions Recovery Project

Residential Rehabilitation

Accommodates 8 clients (4 men and 4 women) in adjoining suburban houses in Mooroolbark, Victoria. 24 hour support and a highly structured program is provided.

Find out more about Residential Rehabilitation.

Supported Accommodation

This program operates from homes in Mooroolbark and Croydon, Victoria and is suitable for those who need support and education about substance abuse but do not require the same high level of structure as the more intense Residential Rehabilitation. Staff are on hand to offer support and counselling and a day program is available, during business hours only. Clients in this program are encouraged to return to work, study or voluntary work as their stay progresses. This program may be accessed directly from MARP Residential Rehabilitation or via self or other referral.

Please Note:

People wanting to access either of the MARP programs will be required to be a minimum of 5 days alcohol and substance free. It is hoped that clients will be supported through the detox process by a health care professional or residential detox centre (usually in a hospital setting).

Outpatients and Aftercare Groups

Support Group:

Open to all (participants need to be clean and sober on the night). This is a facilitated group using both video material dealing with recovery issues and discussions regarding day to day issues experienced by members of the group

Aftercare Group:

A group specifically formed to support clients who have left MARP Programs.

Over the years those associated with MARP have been rewarded with the privilege of watching and hearing from numerous past clients, with whom they shared their lowest moments and who have then gone on to maintain their recoveries and lead successful and fulfilling lives.

Donations

MARP is a non profit organisation with 'Deductible Gift Recipient' (GDR) and 'Income Tax Exempt Charity' (ITEC) status. The ABN is 22 423 056 578. The Department of Health provides some funding for this valuable work however more donations are needed each year to maintain the high quality services MARP provides.
